EWA has become WE!
The name of our association has changed. The European Waterproofing Association AISBL (EWA) has become Waterproofing Europe AISBL (WE). Our association is aiming to become Europe’s central source of advice and information on all roofing and waterproofing matters both to the industry and to its user groups. We are now one step closer to this goal, as WE can also count manufacturers of synthetic membranes among its members. Together, we would like to create a strong platform and represent the interests of our industry at European level. Publications
Waterproofing Europe is a member of Construction Products Europe, the European Association that represents the interests of all construction products manufacturers throughout Europe. WE News Sector EPD published: Flexible bitumen sheets for roof waterproofing We see our new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) as an important tool to support manufacturers in their environmental marketing activities from a scientific and holistic perspective. This EPD reports on the environmental performance of eight waterproofing systems that are representative of those commonly used in the European industry.
A total of 46 plants participated in the EPD data collection. The plants are located in Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. 
Literature study available: Review of Durability of Bitumen Waterproofing The central topic of this literature study is to determine the service life of bitumen membranes used on roofs. Only waterproofing materials based on polymer-modified bitumen are considered. The literature study includes data from roofs up to 40 years old. The technical evaluations have been carried out by independent institutes.
Sector EPD Shingles for pitched-roof covering published! Architects and building owners are increasingly asking for environmental information on bitumen shingles for pitched-roof coverage. With the publication of sector EPDs, our industry is responding to this demand and providing an excellent overview of a wide range of bituminous materials used in this sector.
A total of 9 plants participated in the EPD data collection. The average eco-profile includes the 7 main producers of bitumen shingles located in Italy, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia and Turkey. The EPD may not be representative for production locations from other countries.
